Believing everything that her con-artist boyfriend tells her, Nam-sun give phony medicine to a seriously ill villager. The resulting tragedy forces Nam-sun to flee the village or be killed by an angry mob. She meets Doctor Shin and becomes pregnant with his child after he takes her in, but her former boyfriend is determined that her baby will never be born.
