All this state of affairs is going to be seriously threatened with the arrival of Arcadio, seminarian and nephew of the Bishop. Arcadio, who left the seminary because he considered it "too frivolous" for him, will now occupy the position of secretary of his uncle, who had become vacant. When Rebolledo is found among the "parishioners" friends of the Bishop, the chaste seminary is greatly scandalized.
